Bamboo Has More to Offer

At Austin Bamboo Inc, we believe bamboo is more than an attractive plant. It is a versatile natural material with possibilities ranging from practical property solutions to handcrafted products for the home and garden.

Our story began with crafting from bamboo collected from wild groves and greenbelts in the Austin area. In 2016, at the suggestion of the Texas Bamboo Society, we began helping landowners manage unwanted bamboo growth. Austin Bamboo Inc incorporated in 2017, growing from hands-on experience with bamboo maintenance, harvesting, and craftsmanship.

From Bamboo Groves to Finished Products

Most of the bamboo we work with comes from Texas, with occasional material sourced from Avery Island, Louisiana. Whenever practical, we look for ways to give usable bamboo a second life through crafts, decorative pieces, fencing, and other value-added products.

Natural bamboo has its own character. Differences in color, texture, shape, and growth make each piece distinctive. We embrace those natural qualities in our handcrafted work.

Practical Experience, Traditional Inspiration

Our interest in bamboo extends beyond the finished product. We study its growth, material properties, cultivation, control, and traditional uses, including techniques and cultural practices associated with bamboo in Japan and elsewhere.

We enjoy sharing what we learn with people who want to understand bamboo better, make things with it, or use it more effectively on their own properties.
